Nowadays, a game that has come to mobile phones is called pubg. Is it halal or haram to earn money on it?
Answer
Playing such games and earning money through them is unlawful according to Sharia.
For any type of game to be permissible, the following conditions must be met, otherwise that game will be unlawful according to Sharia due to its involvement in blood and gambling:
1. The game itself should be permissible, there should be no unlawfulness in it.
2. The game should have some religious or worldly benefit, such as physical exercise, etc., and should not be played just for blood or to pass the time.
3. The game should not involve any unlawful activities, such as gambling, etc.
4. The game should not be so extreme that it leads to negligence or neglect of Sharia obligations.
The result is that the online games that are available today contain the aforementioned defects, and while being busy with them, one neglects and neglects one’s religious duties and obligations; therefore, playing them and earning money through them is forbidden according to the Sharia.
In Ruh al-Ma’ani it is stated:
“And this is the Hadith based on what was narrated from al-Hasan, whatever distracts you from worshipping Allah and remembering Him is from the sun, the sacrifices, the myths, the singing, and the like.” (Tafsir al-Alusi (11/66), Surah Luqman, published by Dar al-Kutb al-Ilmiyah)
In Takmeel Fatah al-Mulhim it is stated:
“The one who is in charge of this . . . is that Allah is the abstract One who has no purpose under Him, and has no true purpose, useful in livelihood, nor is the reward forbidden or disliked, forbidden, . . . And what was the purpose of it and religious or worldly interest, because the word of God prohibits him from the book or the Sunnah. . . Whether it is forbidden or abominable, ... and as for the knowledge that prohibiting it from the street and its benefit and benefit to people, it is, according to the jurisprudence, of two types, the first is what experience has shown that the harm is greater than the benefit and the damage is greater than the profit, and that it is from the work of God for the remembrance of God alone and from prayer and the mosques. Also, it is makruh to work with the intention of falsification and deception, and if it is to work for the purpose of profit and the purpose of seeking good, it is permissible, but it is worthy of piety to the degree of al-Istihab or greater than it. . . And on this basis, the games that are meant to exercise the mind or the mind are a reward in themselves, which does not include another sin, and does not lead to indulging in it to the disturbance of the duty of man in his religion and world.
