Answer Investing in cryptocurrency is haram. The Encyclopedia of Trade Issues states: "Bitcoin" is just a fictitious currency, it does not have the basic characteristics and conditions of real currency at all, therefore, the business that is going on on the internet and in the electronic market in the name of buying and selling "coins" or "digital currency" in the present era is not halal and permissible, it is just a fraud, there is no material thing in it in reality, and there is no possession in it, only some numbers are added to the account, and it is a form of interest and gambling like Forex trading, therefore, it is not permissible to invest money in the so-called business of "Bitcoin" or any "digital currency" and to get involved in buying and selling.
